Spring 2008 Color Trends

Tracey Cunningham, Redken’s new Creative Consultant for Color, is the latest edition to Redken’s color expert team. Tracey is based at the Neil George Salon in Beverly Hills and her impressive client roster boasts A-list Hollywood names including Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Molly Sims and Nicole Richie. Tracey is featured both editorially and behind-the-scenes in publication including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Allure, O, the Oprah Magazine, InStyle, and Entertainment Weekly.

Spring 2008’s must-have haircolor trends come straight from Fashion Week and are my most requested color from my A-list clientele.

This season, designers such as Prada, Cynthia Rowley, and Roberto Cavalli featured unique patterns on runways. To juxtapose the design collections, I recommend clients visit their haircolorist for rich, solid tonal haircolor for Spring.

Haircolor follows fashion like the bible. We’re moving away from highlights and focusing more on rich, overall haircolor this spring. Clients such as Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Molly Sims and Nicole Richie are requesting deep reds, browns and solid, warm blonde shades for the season.

Below are my favorite Shades EQ formulas to get Spring’s hottest haircolor. Try these on your clients so they spring in the season with on-trend haircolor!

For rich tones on brunette hair:
1 oz 06NB Brandy
½ oz. 04WG Sun Tea
½ oz. 09AA Papaya
For a nice spicy red:
1½ oz. 08C Cayenne
½ oz. 07G Saffron
For beautiful wheat on pre-lightened hair:
1 oz. Crystal Clear
1 oz. 09NB Irish Cream
To add refinement to gray hair that has yellowed over time:
1 ½ oz. Crystal Clear
½ oz.  09V Platinum Ice

I love using Shades EQ with heat…For any of these formulas I process my clients under the dryer for 15 minutes and allow to cool for 5 minutes before rinsing.

Note:  All formulations are equal parts Shades EQ Processing Solution and Shades EQ Color Gloss
