Summer is all about relaxing and trying to get as much beach-time as possible, and this season’s haircolor trends reflect this laid-back state-of-mind.

This summer, grown-in roots are hot! Clients will want to look natural and still feel sexy with their haircolor. Darker roots, with the rest of the hair one to two shades lighter, portray a natural, edgy look and exude a beach-feel – perfect for summertime unwinds. Vanessa Paradis’ haircolor, Johnny Depp’s wife, is a great example of this summer’s haircolor trend.

Tell your clients it’s okay to let their roots grow out a bit and to come see you for a Shades EQ Crystal Clear gloss in between their regular color treatments to maintain shiny and conditioned hair.

How to Achieve This Look – from Redken Education
This look is best achieved on clients who have previously lightened hair that is growing out, or whose hair has naturally lightened due to sun exposure or excessive heat styling. For a seamless application, softly blend the two shades together for a natural transition from dark to light.
Blonde:
Apply 07NB Chestnut Shades EQ to the root area, and 09GB Butter Cream Shades EQ to the midshaft and ends. *
Brunette:
Apply 03G Cinnamon Shades EQ to the root area, and equal parts of 04WG Sun Tea Shades EQ with 06WG Mango Shades EQ to the midshaft and ends. *
Red:
Apply 05CB Brownstone Shades EQ to the root area, and equal parts of 07CB Spicestone Shades EQ with 07C Curry Shades EQ to the midshaft and ends. *

Note:  All Shades EQ Color Glosses are mixed equal parts with Shades EQ Processing Solution.
