SECTIONING
Create three triangles on top of the head: The first—which sits directly on top of the natural part—should be long and narrow with a point that’s 1/2" behind the front hairline and a base that’s about 2 inches long.Clip this hair out of the way. This is Section 4.
Create the other two triangles to the sides of the first triangle; thier points should extend toward each ear. NOTE:If the hair naturally parts to the side, the triangles will be asymmetrical. Clip each triangle out of the way. These are sections 1 and 2. All remaining hair is section 3.
TIP: Place your hand underneath the triangular sections before clipping hair out of the way; this will enable you to check the density of the color you will be placing and allow you to see where the color will lay before committing to your sectioning.
APPLICATION
- Stand behind and begin in Section 1. Take a 1/4" slice that’s parallel to the triangle and place it on the foil(it should move diagonally forward, toward the chin.) Using a short, narrow bristle brush for control, apply Highlight Formula 1 to Zone 1(regrowth area).Next, using a long, wide bristle brush for speed, apply Highlight Formula 2 to Zones 2 and 3(mid—shaft and ends). When complete, use a clean, short bristle brush—make sure you hold it vertically—to lightly blur the two formulas together in Zone 2(mid-shaft).Cover with foil when complete.
- Skip a 1/2" diagonal section. Take a 1/2" diagonal slice and place on a foil. Apply the color as before, placing Highlight Formula 1 in Zone 1 and Highlight Formula 2 in Zones 2 and 3. Lightly blur the colors together in Zone 2. Continue skipping 1/2" sections and complete Section 1.Repeat on Section 2(the other side). TIP: For a more dramatic look, skip less hair in between the foils or none at all.
- Apply Base Formula 1 to Section 3(all of the hair left out of the foils below Section 4), from scalp to ends. When complete, unclip Section 4 and apply Base Formula 1 from scalp to ends. Process at room temperature for 20 minutes. Rinse, then shampoo and condition with Color Extend.
