SECTIONING

  1. Create a small ponytail at the high-point of the head. It should be approximately 1-2 inches in diameter, depending on texture and density. This is Section 3.
  2. Create a larger circular section that surrounds the ponytail and sits 1/2-1 inch behind the front hairline. Isolate this hair; this is Section 2. Everything below this is Section 1. Isolate Section 1 with an elastic band. Section 2 will be colored first.

APPLICATION

Lighten Section 2 using Highlight Formula 1: Separate into smaller sub-sections for control and place the hair in back-to-back foils. Take horizontal 1/4-inch slices and apply Highlight Formula 1 starting at Zone 2 (mid-shaft) and saturating evenly through Zone 3 (ends). Turn the tint brush vertically and lightly blur the color up to Zone 1 (regrowth area). Place a foil on top to isolate and repeat until completing the section. Make sure to work side-to-side to ensure consistent lifting. Process until reaching your desired undertone. Rinse, then shampoo and condition with Color Extend.

GLAZE

  1. Dry hair completely, then re-section as before. This time, separate Section 2 into curved, "pinwheel"-shaped subsections, as shown. Isolate each subsection with clips. (Each subsection will be colored with a different, alternating glaze formula.)
  2. Beginning in the back, apply Glaze Formula 1 to Section 1. Take 1/4-inch slices and apply the color thoroughly from scalp to ends, working your way from the bottom up. When complete, cover with foils to isolate. In Section 2 (the curved, pinwheelshaped sections) alternate Glaze Formulas 1 and 2 and apply in the same manner, scalp to ends. Isolate each section with a foil. Complete the application with Section 3. Apply Glaze Formula 1 from scalp to ends.
  3. Process at room temperature for 20 minutes. Rinse, then shampoo and condition with Color Extend.
