SECTIONING
- Separate the front from back by parting hair from 1/2–inch behind the high point of the head to just behind the ears on both sides. Isolate the back with a clip; this is Section 4.
- Create a triangle–shaped section on top of the head from above the outer corner of each eye back to the original parting. Isolate this triangle; this is Section 3. From the points at the front hairline of Section 3, separate the remaining hair on each side by taking a diagonal parting to the back of each ear. You’ll create two opposite triangles. Isolate each triangle; the one on the bottom is Section 1 and the one on top is Section 2.
APPLICATION
- Start in Section 1 on the right side. Take diagonal slices that move back toward the nape and apply Highlight Formula 1 to Zones 2-3 (mid-shaft and ends) if needed. If the ends have been previously lightened, leave them out and only apply Highlight Formula 1 to the regrowth. Turn the tint brush vertically and softly blur the color up into Zone 1 (regrowth area). Do not leave any hair between the foils. Continue to take diagonal slices and complete Section 1. Repeat on the left side.
- In Section 2 on the right side, work in the same manner–but this time, alternate Highlight Formula 1 and Lowlight Formula 2. Apply lowlight formulas, scalp to ends. Continue to work diagonally without leaving any hair between foils. Complete both sides of Section 2.
- Move to Section 3, the top triangle. Stand to the right side and take a 1/4–inch diagonal slice that’s parallel to the side of the section. Apply Lowlight Formula 1 from scalp to ends and seal with a foil to isolate. Skip 1/4–inch of hair and take another diagonal slice. This next slice should slightly pivot from the last foil to create a pattern that would resemble a fan or spokes on a wheel. Continue to foil in this pivoting manner, alternating Highlight Formula 1 and Lowlight Formulas 1 and 2. Complete Section 1.
GLAZE
Apply Glaze Formula 1 to all hair remaining between the foils and to Section 4 from scalp to ends. Process at room temperature for 20 minutes. Rinse, then shampoo and condition with Color Extend.
