SECTIONING

  1. Create a narrow, horseshoe shaped section on top of the head that begins at the hairline above the center of each eye and comes to a point approximately 1–1 1/2 inches behind the highpoint of the head. Subdivide this section into three by creating two curved partings that pivot from the left side, approximately 1 inch behind the hairline. Isolate each subsection. These are Sections 4 (in the front), 5 (in the middle) and 6 (in the back).
  2. In the back of the head, create curved sections that are high in the center and move diagonally forward, down toward the chin. Begin at the nape and take a section that extends to the outer corners of the back hairline and is as high as the occipital bone. This is Section 1. Above this, create a similarly shaped section that extends to the back of each ear. This is Section 2. To create Section 3, follow the same direction as in Sections 1 and 2, this time extending the section all the way to just behind the front hairline. Section 3 will narrow to a point on either side. Tip: After isolating the top, it may be easier to divide the rest of the hair from right to left for control. Create the sectioning on one side fi rst, then duplicate on the other side for consistency.

APPLICATION

  1. Start in Section 1, at the nape. Take a 1/4–inch slice and place on a foil. Apply Glaze Formula 1 from scalp to ends. Cover with foil and immediately take another 1/4–inch slice–do not skip any hair. Apply Glaze Formula 1 in a back–to–back method and complete Section 1.
  2. Work diagonally in Sections 2 and 3 in the same back–to–back manner. Apply Glaze Formula 2 to Section 2 and Glaze Formula 3 to Section 3. Isolate each section when complete. When working on the sides in Section 3, keep the foils moving back and away from the face. Turn the brush vertically to work in the narrow sections, and be sure to blur the color to soften the transition when pulling the hair back.
  3. Move up to Section 6. Stand in the back and take a 1/4–inch horizontal slice and place on a foil. Apply Glaze Formula 1 from scalp to ends and repeat the same back–to–back application as before. Complete the section. Move to the right side and take a 1/4–inch slice from Section 5. Place on a foil and apply Glaze Formula 2 from scalp to ends. Hold the brush vertically to work in the narrow section. Apply the color in the same manner. Stay on the right side and apply Glaze Formula 3 to Section 4 as before. Complete the section and cover with foil to isolate. Process at room temperature for 20 minutes. Rinse, then shampoo and condition with Color Extend.
