How do I enter the "Do You Shades EQ" Contest?
To upload a video and enter the contest, you first need to register by completely filling out the registration form, including your address and phone number so we may contact you if you've won.
How do I record a video?
You probably have the equipment to make a video already! Webcams or digital cameras often record in .MOV, .AVI, .WMV or .MPG format, which is required for submission. Video shot with these devices can be uploaded after copying them to your computer. If you have a digital camcorder, you'll get even higher quality recordings! Once you create your submission, copy the video to your computer to edit the video in a program like Apple's iMovie or Windows MovieMaker, or just upload the video to us directly. Be sure to retain an original copy of your video since we'll need the highest quality recording should you win the contest.
What is the best file format to use for uploading?
Redken highly recomends using an avi or mov that is compress with DivX or Mpeg-4 for the best quality and smallest file size on upload.
How is the video judged?
Initial eligible submissions will be judged by a qualified panel of judges approved by Redken 5th Avenue NYC on the basis of Creativity (40%), Humor (30%) and Audience Appeal (30%). The entrants who submitted the videos with the five highest average scores will be deemed potential Contest Finalists. Starting in August, the top five selected videos will be posted for the public to vote for their favorite. Two entrants with the highest number of public votes will be named the Grand Prize Winners. How do I upload a video?
First, be sure that you've registered to enter the contest. Next, click the "upload your movie" button . Enter a title to your video along with a brief description. Click the "browse" button, locate the video file on your computer and select it. Finally, click "upload your video" and the file will be transferred to our server.
Your video must meet the following criteria: it must be in one of the following formats: .MOV, .AVI, .WMV or .MPG; it must not be larger than 100MB; and must be no longer than 60 seconds. Please be sure to review the contest rules for additional criteria that must be met.
How long will it take to upload a video?
Uploads usually take between one and five minutes per MB on a high-speed connection. Our conversion only takes a few minutes, however, your video will not be displayed until it is reviewed by Redken 5th Avenue NYC for appropriate content.
How many videos can I submit?
You can only submit one video at a time, but if you wish, you can delete a video that you previously uploaded and resubmit a video entry. Please be aware that if you do delete your previous submission, any public voting and comments will be deleted with it.
How does the voting work?
During the first phase of the contest, all eligible submissions will be rated by a panel of judges chosen by Redken 5th Avenue NYC and based on creativity, humor and audience appeal. The second phase of the contest occurs during the month of August, 2008, when the top five contest submissions will be posted and voted on by the public. The winner will be notified on or around September 15, 2008. Be sure to review the Judging Criteria and Winner Selection sections of the rules for more information.
